Notifikasi sale mula muncul.
- Berapa banyak akaun BNPL aktif anda
- Sama ada anda bayar tepat masa
- Jumlah baki tertunggak keseluruhan
| Platform | Barang | Ansuran/bulan |
|---|---|---|
| Shopee PayLater | Periuk udara | RM45 |
| Atome | Baju raya awal | RM60 |
| Split | Penyedut habuk | RM55 |
| Grab PayLater | Langganan keluarga | RM35 |
Risiko Sebenar Kalau Bayar Lambat
- Rekod CCRIS/CTOS terjejas — susah lulus loan masa depan
Cara Lindungi Rekod Kredit Semasa 11.11
1. Kira Komitmen BNPL Anda Dulu, Baru Beli
Sebelum tambah item baru dalam troli, senaraikan semua BNPL aktif anda sekarang. Kira jumlah ansuran bulanan. Jika sudah melebihi 10% pendapatan bersih, berhenti.
2. Tetapkan Had: Maksimum 1–2 BNPL Aktif Serentak

Deepavali, 11.11, Hujung Tahun — Tiga Gelombang Dalam Satu Bulan
Satu nombor. Satu had. Dan patuhi ia walaupun notifikasi FLASH SALE tiba tengah malam.
Ingat, BNPL bukan duit percuma.
Setel hutang dulu. Baru setel troli.
The notifications are flooding in. Vouchers are stacked. Wishlists are overflowing. But before you tap "Buy Now" this 11 November, there's one critical new reality you need to understand: every BNPL commitment you take on now will appear in your credit record.
This isn't the same old warning about BNPL being dangerous. This is a new legal reality. Since 1 March 2026, the Consumer Credit Act 2025 came into force — requiring BNPL platforms to report consumer borrowing data to credit agencies like CCRIS and CTOS. That means your "buy now, pay later" habits now leave a lasting mark on your financial record.
What Has Changed?
Previously, BNPL existed in a kind of financial blind spot — banks and financial institutions couldn't see your BNPL activity when assessing your loan applications. That's no longer the case.
Current Facts
Malaysia recorded 243 million BNPL transactions worth RM21.3 billion throughout 2025 — up 66% by volume and 78% by value compared to 2024. By March 2026, there were 8 million active BNPL account holders with RM5.3 billion in outstanding balances.
With figures that significant, banks were always going to want visibility. And now, officially, they have it.
When you apply for a home loan, car financing, or business credit next year, the officer will be able to see:
- How many active BNPL accounts you have
- Whether you've been paying on time
- Your total outstanding BNPL balance
One late payment — even RM30 for a kitchen gadget — can be enough to affect your DSR (Debt Service Ratio) and credit assessment.
The 11.11 Trap Most People Misunderstand
"I'm only buying things I actually need. It's not wasteful."
This is the most common — and most dangerous — reasoning. The problem isn't one purchase. The problem is three, four, or five BNPL commitments piling up simultaneously across different platforms.
Picture this, the week after 11.11:
| Platform | Item | Monthly Instalment |
|---|---|---|
| Shopee PayLater | Air fryer | RM45 |
| Atome | Early Raya outfit | RM60 |
| Split | Vacuum cleaner | RM55 |
| Grab PayLater | Family subscription | RM35 |
Total: RM195 per month — before rent, car loan, Unifi, and food. And every single one of these commitments now lives in the system.
The Real Consequences of Late Payment
- CCRIS/CTOS record damaged — harder to get approved for future loans
- Late fees — every platform charges its own penalties
- Higher DSR — even without a bank loan, active BNPL accounts count as commitments
- Home loan rejected — the most painful outcome, especially after years of saving for a down payment
How to Protect Your Credit Record This 11.11
1. Map Your Current BNPL Commitments Before You Buy
Before adding anything new to your cart, list all your active BNPL accounts right now. Add up the monthly instalments. If it already exceeds 10% of your take-home pay, stop there.
2. Set a Rule: Maximum 1–2 Active BNPL at a Time
The more open accounts you have, the higher the risk to your credit profile. Choose only your most essential need for BNPL — not everything with a discount voucher attached.
3. Separate "Need" from "Want"
Something that's run out or broken? That's a need. Something that looks cheap because of an 80% flash sale? That's a want. Don't let discounts become a reason to pile on new commitments.
4. Pay in Full Where Possible
If you can pay outright without splitting into instalments, do it. You save on the commitment burden and keep your credit record cleaner.
5. Check Your Credit Record After 11.11
Use eCCRIS (Bank Negara Malaysia) or MyCTOS to review your credit report — free or at minimal cost. Verify that all BNPL accounts are recorded accurately.

Deepavali, 11.11, Year-End — Three Spending Waves in One Month
November is one of the most financially intense months of the year: Deepavali celebrations, the 11.11 mega sale, then Christmas and New Year preparations. For many Malaysians, the money is gone before they even realise it.
The safest approach: set one overall November budget — not a per-platform budget, not a per-event budget. One number. One limit. And hold to it even when the midnight flash sale notification arrives.
Remember: BNPL is not free money. It is debt — and now, it is debt that banks can officially see.
Settle the debt first. Then settle the cart.
